I offer you help on your vacation, not total control over your every move. And I am not looking to cost you any money.
It would be nice to know where to eat, or spend money, without being ripped off by the highest bidder. It only takes the sharing of knowledge. I don't see any reason someone has to get rich at every turn. We can all share equal advantage if we can cooperate. |

I hate the attitudes in the different industries that deal with people. Large travel agencies, and tour groups have only one goal on the mind. That is to get you to sign on the dotted line and pay for their services well in advance.
Once you get on the ride it is to late. You can get off but then you have to pay for another ride to get home. So to make the best out of a bad situation you go along and try to have a good time anyway. After all the money is already gone. But I never considered waiting in lobbies, sitting on buses, or waiting in line with 200 other people to do anything/everything, to be a vacation. "Let's load up this here cattle car and have some fun, just like in the commercials, Martha." Many people have a good time. The alternative is to spend thousands of dollars to have a bad time. So even if your vacation sucked, you convince yourself that it wasn't to bad, and any way that is how they do things. Sucker! You got ripped off. Don't worry the travel and vacation guide industry is huge. Next year you can use someone else. Of course in order to compete they all have to rip you off equally. Atleast you will already be familiar with the process this time. Maybe the senery will be different next time. But probably not. A bus is a bus, one hotel lobby looks the same as every other lobby in the world. And all the souvenirs are imported from some third world country anyway. I just can't understand how people can consider the above when planning their vacation. But to each their own. My vacations are more casual and alot less costly. |

New business, if you really want to call it that. Mostly information is what is needed to have a successful vacation. Nobody wants to stumble around blindly.
Research on an area is really all that is needed and that information can be accumulated and made available using Dragon Travels as a forum. |

My idea is simple. Question: "If you were from out of town and vacationing in your area, What, When,
Where, Why, and How much would you do, on your vacation?"
Right now I'm sitting in the southwest Detroit Michigan area. There are atleast 30 different attraction within 10 miles of me. And none of them requires the intervention of the tourist industry. I am very familiar with this area. In minutes I could give you a brief outline and increase your chances of success. Access numbers to services can be provided, and honest opinions can be given, (as apposed to paid for lies). You have information that I could use. We have information that can be shared with someone else. And in the end we all benefit. Hopefully a better vacation, but also you might come away with something positive from the person that has shared with you. |

Information and opinion is what is needed here. It is not even necessary to share your opinion if you don't want to. Although that would make you an odd sort. Everybody seems to have an opinion to share.
Or you can try getting involved to a further extent. Offer a way to communicate, (email, phone, whatever) so that better understanding can be reached. There is no reason not to have a phone number of someone in the area, if you are far from home. Safety, security, and possibly help, or the idea that you can get help if you need it, could ease the conscious/unconscious mind. |

If you have information of places elsewhere, besides home, send it. I am providing info on as many vacation or travel spots as I can remember. Skiing in Colorado or Canada, Canoeing in Michigan or Florida, Mammoth caves in Kentucky, Alligators in the Everglades, Whitewater rafting in Virgina. I travel alot and love variety, although I am mostly the outdoors type. I know a little bit about many places. I hope in some way that I can help make your next vacation the best.
