Famous/Fabulous People
.....................................
Joseph Hayse, author of the book "The Desperate Hours", that became a movie staring Humphrey Bogart, is the most famous person I've worked for.
.....................................
Of course when he first called me he was just another customer. It wasn't until we talked that I found out he had a name that people would recognize.I liked him because he was messey and very regular

I first heard from Mr. Hayse because he was writing another book and needed shelving for the research. His office was in a dormer on top of his house. And it was a mess. Notes and research stacked and piled everywhere. He needed alot of new shelving built.

I eventually ended up painting his entire house and doing enough maintenence to keep things up pretty good. His house had an oriental character to it, complete with an indoor rock garden about 20 x 40 foot in size.

Him and his wife are intelligent, friendly people that I enjoyed spending some time with. Truthfully, most of my customers were good people. If they weren't, then they didn't last long.

.....................................
Judy Just is an artist that I became aquainted with. She was not as renoun as Dick Oxley, but in the Sarasota community, which would include the Ringling Museum and College, she was quite well known.
.....................................
Believe it or not she hired me to build some "Cataminiums" (Cat-condominiums) and Catatats (Cat-Habitat) for her cats. She only had a couple but she was doing her best to make them happy.

Cats have a mind of their own and I don't know if they ever used the things I built them, but we tried. Can't make everybody and thing happy all the time.

Actually (and this is private) Judy is the only customer that I developed personal and romantic feelings towards. That didn't last long because we had dissimiliar interests, but it was nice while it lasted.

I wonder what ever happened to her. She would be the kind of person who would have a web page. I'll have to try and look her up again.

I've known the very rich and the poor who pretended to be rich. Everybody has their own story. The details might change, but the feelings and circumatances are the same. Family, Friends, and Work.
.....................................
You would think rich people wouldn't have money problems. But problems are no more then a perception. I remember one customer, almost in tears telling me that her Mercedes (rented) was behind in payments and she was worried that they would take it back.

At the time I drove a truck I bought for less then a grand. These people had a big house in an expensive area, maids and grounds keepers. Very expensive art on the walls. And her and her husband both rented Mercedes and not cheep ones either. And she thought that she had problems.

Amazing that money is only a tool and how you use that tool is what's important. It doesn't matter how much of a tool you have, quality of life can best measured by how well you use what you have.

I have little money but I live better then anybody I know. I come and go as I please and I keep no schedule to speak of. Now. Many circumstances make me who I am, the least important seems to be money.

What is important is for a person to have "drive", "knowledge", "ability", and "tools". With these things you can accomplish much more then if only had money. Sad that so few people are smart enough to realize this.

Most of my customers in Florida were people who were comfortably well off. This had more to do with location then anything else. I purposely stayed in areas that could easily support my business.
